Have you ever read a book and after you finish it you feel not the same? Like some part of you is missing and you are not sure what to do with life. Current feels at the moment as I’ve just finished rereading the whole Harry Potter series and it’s way too soon to start a new book (my heart isn’t ready yet). For the past few days I’ve been dragging my feet and trying to find the motivation to do things again. I guess if a book can make you feel this depressed when you finish it, it’s a good sign that it was an amazing series.
I had to force myself to shoot these s’mores as it’s been on my to do list for 2 months. For those that don’t know what s’mores are, they are an American treat where you sandwich a toasted marshmallow from a campfire and a thin piece of chocolate between graham crackers. Sadly in Australia we don’t get graham crackers but after a bit of googling a good substitute are digestive biscuits.
Verdict? This s’mores thing is amazing – gooey, toasted marshmallow mixed with melted chocolate that is sandwiched between digestive biscuits. The good thing is that you can use my recipe below to make these in the oven with the grill setting – no camp fire required. The bad thing is that they are so easy to make that I’ve had these for dessert after dinner too many nights in a row.
2 digestive biscuits (I used McVitie’s)
2 white/vanilla marshmallows
1 thin square of milk chocolate (I used Lindt), broken into 4 pieces (you can also use dark chocolate if you wanted to)
- Preheat grill.
- Place 1 biscuit on a lined baking tray and top with milk chocolate pieces.
- Place marshmallows on top.
- Cook on grill with the oven door open until the marshmallow is toasted and brown on top.
- Top with the other digestive biscuit and eat!
