The Beigelry, Adelaide

Renew Adelaide have been doing some wonderful things in Adelaide where they rent free unused space for 30 days to give business’ a trial run. This has seen so many new stores popping up and one of these is The Beigelry. Located in Topham Mall (which I usually just use as a shortcut to go to Chinatown), take a turn and you’ll find it bustling with some shiny new stores.

The Beigelry bagels

The Beigelry is a store that specialises in bagels where you’ll find a huge variety like onion, sesame, poppy, dill, cinnamon and raisin. It’s kind of like Subway where you choose the bagel type, fillings and veggies and then see it built in front of you.

There is so much choice but I decided on the pastrami, mustard and cream cheese filling. The bouncy everything bagel was smeared with smooth jalapeno cream cheese; sandwiching slices of pastrami, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. The everything bagel was made up of all the other bagel variety types where I got a whiff of onion and nutty tones of sesame. I made the mistake of choosing lettuce as I found this took away from the pastrami as I couldn’t really taste it that much. The jalapeno cream cheese also didn’t have any heat but you could still taste the lovely jalapeno flavour. The only thing that I would want is for my bagel to be toasted but otherwise a tasty and filling lunch.

Anything for less than $10 in the city that fills you up I consider a win ;) Would come back to try their sweet filling bagels as I am quite curious how it’ll taste.

Renew Adelaide sounds like such a great concept! And I do miss the incredible bagels from NYC.

They’re doing some really great things in Adelaide. A few food trucks have brick and mortar stores now – so excited!
