Nordburger, Hindmarsh

Chicken and waffles had finally made it to Adelaide. It’s a dish I’ve been wanting to try after seeing it on Man vs. Food many years ago (there is just something about the combo that screams for it to work). Finding out Nordburger does this for breakfast, R plotted his way down with C and I tagging along.

Fried chicken was crispy and brittle like good old KFC wicked wings (minus the fatty oil dripping down your hands). Mine was perfectly seasoned with a heavy pepper hand that I liked but C and R said theirs were very salty and struggled to eat it without water. Waffles were crispy and the combo of fried chicken and waffles work. This may be because waffles aren’t too sweet in the first place and acts like bread. Topped with whipped maple butter was fork licking good. Oh and let me not forget the generous sizes that are given for $9 – a whole giant waffle with 4 pieces of chicken. In the end we could have just ordered one and shared it between the 3 of us :P

Fried Chicken & Waffles ($9 – weekends only)

Would I get it again? Probably not. It was quite tasty and delicious but very heavy for something first thing in the morning (and just after a run). I was curious at their Japanese soft serve machine but sadly on the day we went the power went out (an excuse to visit again me thinks).

Yum. I love fried chicken and waffles. I agree – I think I’d prefer to have it for brunch than breakfast, but dinner is even better!

Haha I ate this after a run so it made me feel super bloated. All that work out did not get rid of that fried chicken and waffles :P
