Being friends with a foodie or a food blogger is not the easiest thing in the world. We do like to take photos of our dishes as well as yours before eating. D has found a strategy to avoid this: if he orders the exact same dish as me then I won’t take a photo of his.
Very smart indeed.
At Delicatessen we both eyed the roast duck roll so alas he avoided one meal with me where he didn’t have to wait before he dived in.
So how was this duck roll that we both got? A bite into the crunchy warm roll with it’s fluffy interior but then finding the crispy roast duck drizzled in sauce. That duck is what dreams are made off with it’s crispy and crunchy skin. Wafer thin cucumber slices were a welcomed relief that offered some freshness to the roll. Slices of soft camembert layered the bottom of the roll and added a subtle creaminess to the dish. I can’t fault anything on here :)
Roast duck and cucumber roll, pickled green peppers and Camembert ($15.90)
I actually came here again and loved the fresh and delicious flavours of the flat bread. Crispy fresh flat bread topped with rocket, meaty jamon and drizzled with a fragrant olive oil. Pieces of soft cheese which I thought was camembert was spread thoughout which was delicious.
Flat bread, jamon, rouquette, soft cheese, olive oil ($13.90)
American style cheeseburger, brioche bun, house fries ($16.90)
Delicatessen is a nice place but it can get very loud from the people talking especially during lunch time. Service is friendly and polite but what’s got me coming back is the food with their fresh flavours and the reasonable lunch prices.
