1802 Oyster Bar and Bistro, Coffin Bay

A quick day trip to the pleasant little town of Coffin Bay near Port Lincoln – yes the town of those oysters! A waddle to the first restaurant we saw opened during the Christmas holidays found us to a packed 1802. Maybe every one else had the same idea as us to get some oysters and seafood in their bellies?

Oyster Farm

Umm so confession but I’m not an oysters fan at all but when in Coffin Bay it seemed a shame not to give it a go – seriously there’s a oyster farm right across from here! We ordered half a dozen kilpatrick oysters and this is coming from 3 oyster non-lovers but these were soooo good. Slippery and smooth oysters that were topped with diced bacon, worstershire sauce, garlic sauce and a hint of chilli. I should have ordered a dozen for myself haha.

1802 was really full and it took a while for our oysters to come out but our waitress was really nice and reassuring us that we weren’t forgotten. If I ever find myself in Coffin Bay again I must order more oysters and seafood for myself ;)

Mmm I love oysters and would have happily joined you in a plate of these although my favourites are raw with some lemon :D

I’m sure you’ll be able to get raw oysters here as the oyster farm is right across the road! Can’t get fresher than that :P
