Ottolenghi, London

Ottolenghi is a Mediterranean inspired shop that dishes up healthy salads, pastries and desserts. It wasn’t really on my radar until I saw it pop up a few times when I was browsing some blogs – and once I saw the display of desserts I couldn’t say no ;)

Finally decided on a caramel and macadamia cheesecake which was soft and fluffy like a Japanese cheesecake. Decadent and rich with sweet caramel running down the sides and crunchy roasted macadamia on top. This was quite rich and heavy so be sure to have some empty stomach space … unlike me who just ate a duck confit sandwich.

Crumbly, buttery tart that was so good with a rich dark chocolate inside and a smear of cherry sauce on the bottom. A dollop of mascarpone on top helped to wind down the sweetness. It was a bit like a black forest cake but with the best ingredients :D

Simple desserts but done well – you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. If you see this place on your wander, do pop in to check if any of the desserts tickles your fancy.
