Mamasita, Melbourne

Mamasita – you’ve heard about the crazy cues and the corn on the cob rave. Well what did this corn actually taste like? Piping hot, juicy kernels spread with a creamy chipotle mayo that brought a bit of heat. Half melted cheese and the tanginess from a squeeze of the lime added new levels of flavour :Dmamasita corn on the cob

Elote Callejero – chargrilled corn, queso, chipotle mayo and lime ($4.90)

Super fresh flavours from the cold, salty crab and habanero tomatillo dressing on top of a crunchy tortilla. One bite and it’s all gone! This was my favourite and I should have ordered a whole spread just for myself – just too bad it’s so expensive.

mamasita crab tostaditas

Tostaditas de Jaiba  ($16)

I regret getting the quesadillas – parchy tortilla and bland lamb where only the cucumber and sour salsa brought any flavour. C used the habenaro sauce which he said went well together.

mamasita quesaillas

Quesadillas de Cordero ($16)

Lovely venue and we had came in a bit earlier than the lunch crowd so the food came out quite fast. Highlights of the meals was the crab tortilla and corn on cob – wouldn’t mind to go back just for these babies.

Melbourne Series 2014

C and I went for an extreme food crawl through Melbourne for 4 days during the Adelaide Cup holiday. We thought we were smart going only on an Adelaide long weekend. We were not. It was Labour Day in Melbourne – luckily things were still open :) Here is a list of the places we ate at:

Yummy and refreshing! From the looks of it, I never imagined rating would be lower than 4 on average. Thanks for reviewing!

I was actually sitting on between a 3.5 to 4 rating haha. The corn on cob and tostaditas were definitely a 4 but that quesadillas didn’t sit well with me at all.

You can now book for weekday lunches for an hr :) We got there at 12 on a weekday and it was pretty much empty, didn’t really need that booking at all to be honest. I hope you make it there one day!
