As each week begins I start planning what to eat on the weekend, looking forward to whatever food adventure lies ahead and reading blogs and menus to help prepare for the inevitable decision of choosing only 1 single dish. Sometimes the excitement is too hard to contain and over the week I’ll start telling peeps who lend a compassionate ear to this food crazy girl.
Oh you had me at your menus Bar 9 – opening these childhood books to find the menu must mean love right?
I’m not an expert or close to even judging a good coffee but I hope I know a good mocha (what would you expect from someone that named her blog I Only Eat Desserts?) Ah sweet hints of chocolate with a slightly bitter coffee, a good mocha which was much better than the one I tried at Bar 9 central.
Generous bed of juicy truffled mushrooms with a creamy sauce covering each slice that packed intense earthy flavours that slapped you in the face, reaching the point of being overwhelming but not knocking me off yet. Slicing through the poached eggs a stream of runny yolk flowed out and mixed with the creamy mushrooms giving my heart a little flutter. Lucky A and I went halfsies with our meals as I wouldn’t have been able to finish this heavy dish by my lonesome self.
Creamy Truffled Mushroom Ragu on Toast with Poached Eggs and finished with Truffled Honey ($18)
Shaved pieces of juicy crab and fresh bursts of coriander decorated the top of the scrambled eggs, drizzled with a tasty green curry sauce with a lovely kick of chilli came at the end of each bite. There was something about the mild, subtle flavors that reminded me of Asian food – absolutely delicious and a unique dish.
Australian Blue Swimmer Crab – green curry scramble with Asian greens ($17)
Never been to Bar 9? I think you need to pencil it into a diary, event it on an e-calender or whatever you crazy kids do now a days to get some delicious food into that belly.
Atmosphere: 2.5/5 – cardboard table at the back was uncomfortable with the legs poking into me
