Belgian Beer Cafe, Adelaide

Being a poor uni student for the past 5 years I have remained only on the bar side of life with this being my very first time even entering the restaurant area. Pricey food draws the pricey crowds – C and I brought down the average age by a couple of decades. Luckily for us me and my trusty entertainment book had a discount for here (we Asians love our discounts man).

Belgium Beer Karmeliet Tripel

Tripel Karmeliet ($14.20)

This duck is no ordinary piece of meat – cooked to perfection with herbs and spices covering it which resulted in flavoursome and tasty bites. The bed of gnocchi was oh so soft that it melted away (the only qualm I had was that I wanted more). Light leek and almond cream really pulled all the elements together on the dish – I was dipping anything I could into the sauce but it did get a bit heavy towards the end.

Belgian Beer Cafe Duck Confit

Duo de Canard – Confit Duck Leg & Roasted Duck Shank w’ Hand-made Gnocchi, Leek & almond cream w’ Sautéed Chard ($33.90)

The chicken was C’s dish where I stole nibbles here and there :) Chicken was tender and soft with a crispy outer skin with the inside stuffed with bacon which excited C. Chorizo was actually not too salty for me for once and left that lovely tingly chilli burning. All in all another delicious dish!

Belgian Beer Cafe Chicken Breast

Poulet Farci Pan Seared Chicken Breast Filled w’ Chorizo, Smoked Mozzarella & Basil w’ Saffron Buttered Kipflers & Tomato Couli ($29.90)

Just looking at these photos makes me salivate – think I need to go back again to try out their other dishes and mussels!

Ahh yeh wordpress is a bit messy like that, blogspot is worse – always can’t use wordpress :(( OMG Adel coffee is just amazing – in Japan I got unhooked from coffee because it was so bleh up there. One thing I missed so much in Japan was the different cuisines – 5 months of Jap food wore me down a bit ;)
