Gauchos

I love steak. End of post.

Just kidding! Decided to try out Gauchos on Gouger St for my birthday. They serve Argentinean steak (the king of steaks might I add) but to my amazement I discovered I’m actually not picky about steak. I don’t actually mind what kind of cut it is as long as it is a steak (yes I bet some steak fanatics are at the point of wanting to stone me to death about now).

Gaucho's

The Bife Ancho (350g scotch fillet) tasted delicious and was served with Gaucho’s very own tasty chimmichurri sauce – this sauce was literally to die for. The steak was tender and juicy, with a bit of tang from the freshly squeezed lemon and some crunch from the chopped garlic. The rosemary potatoes were crispy on the outside while pillowy soft on the inside. Although delicious, the cost to taste ratio didn’t impress me. I really don’t think it was worth the $41 for just the steak – salad costed an extra $12, no thank you.

Scotch Fillet

Bife Ancho – 350g Scotch Fillet ($41)

C got the Vaquita Cordobesa (250g eye fillet) – it was more tender than the scotch fillet but a bit small, definitely not filling enough for a meal.

Eye Fillet Steak

Vaquita Cordobesa – 250g Eye Fillet ($36.90)

The steak tasted really good and I absolutely adored the chimmichurri sauce but it was too pricey for what we actually got.
